Lifestyle Swim School February-March- 2010 Infants/Toddler and Tyke Schedule and Preschool and Elementary Schedule A.D. Henderson School at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and Home/Community pools Parents may select from either of the two formats listed below for their child's classes. The first format, the Optimal Track, follows the natural learning progression of this early age group (consistent exposure, practice, a little bit on a lot of days) and meets 4 times per week for 4 weeks. The second format, the Extended Track, meets 2 times per week for 8 weeks and requires additional practice at home to provide adequate exposure and practice necessary for learning. Both tracks offer 15-16 classes (several 15 due to holidays) within a session. It is recommended that you try to attend at least 1/2 of the classes you enrolled for in your registered course. To be fair to everyone and to keep or prices affordable missed classes can not be carried over to the next session. Classes are subject to minimum and maximum enrollments. We plan for 12 students per class. Some classes may be combined.
Track II Extended Learning Track (check with Rob and Kathy for location and directions) The Extended Learning Track is an option available to accommodate work and life schedules that preclude our recommended Optimal summer format. Please note that in especially the Water Adjustment and Basic Skills class, parents must exercise an extra dose of patience when only attending class twice a week. Major breakthroughs may not occur until between the 16th and 48th lesson, therefore, remember not to push or judge your child. Flow with your child and enjoy the lessons knowing that he or she will make their breakthrough when they are ready. Reinforcing at home, on non-class days, in a fun, positive manner can also enhance the optimal learning growth of your child. The more times per week your young swimmer attends class, the more dramatic his or her progress will ultimately be! Young children, especially fearful children, those not liking water on their face and those being introduced to water for the first time, need consistency and repetition as well as regular exposure to the pool and teachers. We strongly recommend reading our book, Learn to Swim and viewing our video/DVD Diaper Dolphins Volume I prior to and during Water Adjustment and Basic Skills and Learn to Swim and Diaper Dolphins Volume II prior to and during Safety Techniques I, II, Advanced Safety Techniques and Water Tykes. $245/offered up to 2x per week /for 8 weeks M/W, T/Th hosted at our swim family's homes/communities/clubs Sat/Sun at FAU A.D.
